Habak are spiritually protective talismans from the Visayas and Mindanao islands of the Philippines. Believed to provide protection, good luck, health, wealth, or powers depending on ingredients & intentions of the maker, habak are traditionally worn & hidden on the body. The habak were handmade by mananambal (traditional Visayan healer) Juanita Torremocha of Cantabon, Siquijor Island, Philippines. Inside the habak (either dangling coconut or shell) are special stones, minerals, corals & herbs collected, shared & traded by other islander healers throughout the Philippines archipelago. These dangling habak kulintas carry the energy of sea alchemy, islander exchanges & relational transformation.
