We are not mere islands floating alone; we belong to a world of connected seas.
Malaya refers to an ancient network of kingdoms in maritime Southeast Asia.
In Tagalog, Malaya means freedom.
In Bisaya, Malaya means it shall decompose in nature’s time, from root word laya, which means to wither.
In Sanskrit, among many meanings, Laya means to dissolve or dwelling place.
Laya yoga, or kundalini yoga, is the dissolution of self to integrate with Supreme Divine Consciousness.
I invite us to unite in yoga, to intentionally melt & merge with spirit of REVOLUTION & FREEDOM.
Malaya Kita: we will all decompose, we will all be free…

Brief Story of Yoga Journey
My yoga journey began 15 years ago in Mannahatta (NYC), finding pathways from Hatha Yoga & to “Kundalini” Yoga. Seeking truth at source roots, in 2017, I traveled near Mysore, India to complete 100-hours of Ayurveda Foundations + 200-hours of Hatha Yoga at Ayuryoga Eco-Ashram.
Butoh dance practice & performance in India led me to Kalarigram: Temple of Ayurveda & Kalaripayattu martial arts, near Auroville, Tamil Nadu. Led by Shri Lakshmanan Gurukkal, of Sri Vidya Tantra lineage and uniting spiritual, ritual theater & warrior arts, I became profoundly inspired to research Tantric & Yogic influences in precolonial Visayan islands, from Srivijaya kingdom, Chola empire & oceans beyond.
Since 2018, I’ve been sharing my practice through Isla Yoga & Kota Yoga, based in Bantayan island, Philippines & Lenape lands of New York City.
In 2023, I began an in-depth study of Laya Yoga under Indu Arora, grounding in Yogic + Tantric text-based understandings & applied practices of Chakra & Kundalini. I continued learning with Indu, studying Mudra Chikitsa (Mudra therapy) & Pranayama.
As an artist-researcher (BA in Anthropology & MA in Media Studies), plant/body/cultural heartworker, and dancer-freediver-traveller, I dream daily of co-creating new worlds with the (w)holy divine.
